During the pandemic, Overton resigned from traditional nursing in protest of vaccine mandates, hospital treatment protocols, and the use of Remdesivir, which she and other critics viewed as harmful. Believing that healthcare workers were being pressured to follow policies that compromised patient care, she founded the Nurse Freedom Network to support nurses, advocate for patient rights, and challenge what she describes as corruption within the healthcare system.
