Part #4 (The Fall Feasts - ‘TABERNACLES, THE SEASON OF OUR GREAT JOY’)! (10-31-20)
*(WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF ‘ALL THE GENTLES WERE COMMANDED TO GO UP AND CELEBRATE ‘THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES’! HOW MANY OF US WOULD?)*
So highly regarded was ‘THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES’ (Sukkot) in The Bible, that the prophet Zechariah prophesied: ‘ALL NATIONS (GENTLES) WOULD MAKE THEIR OWN ANNUAL PILGRIMAGES TO JERUSALEM TO WORSHIP THE LOORD AT ‘THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES. But to understand the significance of such a prophecy we need a Greater Understanding.
(Zechariah 14:16)
And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of ‘ALL THE NATIONS (GENTILES)’ which came against Jerusalem SHALL GO UP from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and ‘TO KEEP THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES’.
As part of The Biblical Calendar, “THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES” was given as the final of ‘7 Appointed Feasts of The LORD as it is written in(Leviticus 23) and (Deuteronomy 16). Its Hebrew name, Sukkot (soo-KOHT), plural of SUKKAH, it means: (Huts - Booths or Tabernacle). It is also known as: (The Festival - The Feast,” or The Feast of Ingathering).
In the fields and later homes of Israelis, the poorly constructed temporary SUKKAH would be the Dwelling Place of every Jewish family, especially invited guests (Ushpizin), and other outsiders (friends, neighbors, and even Gentiles) who may come into ‘THE TABERNACLE’ designed to give ‘All Glory To God. Life was to be lived in the midst of ‘THE TABERNACLE’ as much as possible during these days. Fully furnished, one would eat, drink, study, entertain, amuse, and sleep in the SUKKAH.
It was ‘ONLY DURNING THE 7 DAYS OF ‘THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES’, that the Temple was Gloriously Illuminated by ‘4 MASSIVE AND BRIGHTLY LIT ‘GOLDEN CANDLESTICKS, USING THE ‘UNDER GARMENTS OF THE PRIEST AS WICKS, REFERRING TO THOSE GARMENTS AS: (SWADDLING CLOTHES). Therefore, during ‘THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES, IT WAS LITTERALLY IMPOSIBLE TO FIND ‘SWADDLING CLOTHES TO WRAP A BABY DURING THESE 7 DAYS OF TABERNACLES’! If you found ‘A Babe Wrapped in SWADDLING CLOTHES DURNING THESE 7 DAYS, ‘IT WOULD CERTAINLY BE A SIGN UNTO YOU’! Even the ancient Sages of Israel made sure that ALL People down through the centuries would ‘Know and Remember’ this Historical Fact by writing it down for us in the ancient writings of The Talmud:
(Talmud Sukkot 5.3)
‘(4) (50 cubits) High Golden Candlesticks, were set up in the ‘Temple’s Court of Women’. 4 Golden Bowls were placed on each Candlestick, (Total of 16 Vats), and 4 Ladders rested against each. A youth of Priestly Descent stood at the top of each Ladder, Pouring Oil from a Ten-Gallon Pitcher into the Bowls. The ‘WORN-OUT LITURGICAL GARMENTS OF THE PRIESTS WERE USED FOR THE WICKS (SWADDLING CLOTHES)!
(Luke 2:11-12)
“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be ‘THE SIGN UNTO YOU’:
YOU WILL FIND A BABE WRAPPED IN ‘SWADDLING CLOTHES’ (PRIEST GARMENTS), LYING IN A MANGER’. (Hmmmmm)!
When All ’16 Vats Oil’ were lit, it was said by witnesses, that they were so bright, that ‘THERE WASN’T ONE SHADOW IN ALL OF JERUSALEM’! Therefore, the ’16 Lights of Tabernacles’ were called: (THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD)! Jesus used this Tabernacles terminology in The Book of (John 8:12): ‘“I AM ‘THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD’. WHOEVER FOLLOWS ME WILL NEVER WALK IN DARKNESS, (SHADOWS), BUT WILL HAVE ‘THE LIGHT OF LIFE”.
The Feast of Tabernacles was called: ‘THE SEASON OF OUR GREAT JOY’! For The 7 Days In The Temple, Men of Piety and Good Deeds Danced with Burning Torches in their hands, Singing Songs and Praises. Even as countless Levites played on Harps, Lyres, Cymbals, Trumpets and other instruments of music on ‘The 15 Steps of Ascent’ leading from the Court of the Israelites up to the Court of the Women. It was a Time of ‘Unspeakable Joy and Filled With Glory’! It’s described for us in the Talmud:
(Talmud, Sukkot 5:1,55a, 5:4)
‘A connection between the possession of the (Holy Spirit) and Ecstasy, or GREAT JOY, is found in the ceremony of ‘WATER DRAWING – (REJOICING OF THE HOUSE OF WATER POURING) on The Festival Of Sukkot. The Mishnah said that he who had never seen this ceremony, which was accompanied by dancing, singing and music, had never seen true joy in all his life.’ Therefore, let us Join In on God's Seasons of Our Great Joy, (THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES), and let ‘The Holy One of Israel Lead Us Into His Place of Worship and Let Us: ‘Rejoice and Be Encouraged During THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES’!
