When co-host Frohman was helping a Republican politician oppose Hillarycare in the early 1990s, this week’s guest was working for another Member. Frohman staffed the first congressional bill to tax-advantage savings accounts for health care, but Mr. Desser worked at a lobbying shop that helped pass a version of the bill years later. Now Charles sells the Health Savings Account in combination with an alternative to Obamacare (promoted at
our Marketplace), while John also is selling them via the company, HealthEquity - AND helping lead a coalition to expand them to further empower patients (at the expense of ObamaCare and any other third party that’s wrecking health care).


And indeed, health care is wrecked. Polls show health reform will impact this Fall’s election. Over the past decade, family premiums have increased 52%, with premiums doubling for those relying on expired subsidies temporarily increased during Covid. Expense isn’t the only problem with Obamacare: As this surgeon went viral on X for complaining about rising
insurance claims resistance, 50% of even pre-authorized procedures of his later were denied. Then, there are the networks of allowable providers, infamously excluding up to half of a region’s providers. Then there’s also the disincentive of doctors in networks to experiment with alternative care for fear of being booted by the insurer.


The good news from the Great American Health Alliance – or GAHA – entails its expansion of the popular Health Savings Account in a way that will protect families from insurance resistance to either claims or natural alternatives.

That’s because the GAHA reform, which is expected to be included in this Fall’s “must-pass” reconciliation bill, will expand the dollars one can put into an HSA, and widen the Internal Revenue Services’ list of eligible expenses to include more natural therapies that healers want to offer.
